In the Omen of the Stars Series

The Last Hope

A little while before the Dark Forest battle, Brightheart and Cloudtail have another litter, consisting of Dewkit and his siblings, Amberkit and Snowkit. Cloudtail notices how lively his kits are.

Later, the kits are brought to the nursery by Cloudtail, just before ThunderClan begins to participate in the battle against the Dark Forest. Dewkit, his siblings, and Lilykit and Seedkit (Sorreltail's kits), are watched over by Brightheart, and protected by Mousefur, Ferncloud, and Purdy and the other ThunderClan cats staying in the camp to protect it from the raging battle. Tigerheart and Ivypool come to the camp with Hollyleaf, and Brightheart and her kits are seen next to the nursery. A short while later, when Ferncloud tells Brightheart to hide, she buries her kits deeper into the nest.

When Amberkit and Dewkit see Ferncloud lying on the ground after the battle, they think she's sleeping, not dead, and think Dustpelt will wake her.
